Assistant Maintenance Manager (Thilawa Office)
Job Description
• Assist the Transport Manager in planning and managing daily maintenance and repair activities for the company's transportation assets.
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize vehicle breakdowns and operational downtime.
• Monitor the condition of trucks, trailers, containers, and related equipment through regular inspections.
• Coordinate and supervise maintenance technicians, mechanics, and external workshops to ensure repair work is completed properly and on time.
• Diagnose or coordinate the diagnosis of mechanical, electrical, structural, and other vehicle-related problems.
• Follow up on breakdowns and emergency repairs and ensure timely resolution.
• Coordinate with the Transport and Operations teams regarding vehicle availability, maintenance schedules, breakdowns, and repair priorities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, including repair history, preventive maintenance schedules, breakdown records, spare-parts usage, and maintenance costs.
• Monitor vehicle maintenance performance and identify recurring problems or causes of frequent breakdowns.
• Recommend appropriate repair, replacement, or refurbishment based on vehicle condition and maintenance history.
• Manage and monitor the inventory of spare parts, tires, tools, lubricants, and other maintenance materials.
• Coordinate with suppliers and external service providers for spare parts, repair services, welding, tire services, and other maintenance requirements.
• Review maintenance quotations and assist with cost comparison and vendor selection.
• Monitor maintenance expenses and support the Maintenance Manager in controlling maintenance costs within the approved budget.
• Ensure maintenance work is carried out according to company safety standards and operational requirements.
• Inspect completed repair work and ensure vehicles are in proper and safe operating condition before returning them to service.
• Support accident/damage inspections and coordinate necessary repair work and cost estimates.
• Supervise the performance of maintenance staff and provide guidance and support to improve work quality and efficiency.
• Prepare regular maintenance reports covering breakdowns, preventive maintenance, vehicle availability, repair status, maintenance costs, and outstanding issues.
• Support the Maintenance Manager in developing and improving maintenance procedures and systems.
• Perform other duties related to maintenance as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in vehicle, fleet, transportation, logistics, heavy equipment, or automotive maintenance.
• Experience in maintaining trailers, containers, trucks, or heavy vehicles is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience in a 3PL, logistics, transportation, trucking, or fleet operation is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, tires, and electrical systems.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Willing to travel to operational locations, workshops, warehouses, or other sites when required.
